The Origin Story
Warmest Greetings from the Next Octave Music School!

Thank you for making it this far with us. I’m Dwayne Creado, a full-time Music Educator, Singer, Guitarist & Entrepreneur.
As 90’s kids, we grew up listening to Enrique Iglesias, Eminem & a bunch of talented artists during the era. I enjoyed being the bathroom singer but was a pretty awkward kid at school's musical events. I received my first guitar as a Christmas present in Grade 6. Tried playing the instrument for a month but just couldn’t find the right guidance in the teacher and ended up losing complete interest. To cut a long story short, my love for music only multiplied when I crossed paths with my guitar, once again, during junior college. I was highly influenced by my peers playing their guitars during breaks that
I fell in love with it. I still remember how inspired I was! I then decided to pick up the guitar and teach myself the instrument. Positive peer pressure could really work wonders at times! Over a period of time I taught myself to sing and play simultaneously, I started recording videos on Youtube, Instagram, etc., really enjoying the process. Later formed a local band and performed for various group and solo gigs. I created original music for agencies as a freelancer, too. While pursuing my Aircraft Maintainance Engineering in 2012, I started tutoring the guitar. Taught my first student in 2015. Fast-forwarding a few years, I enjoyed teaching and then decided to quit my profession to pursue my love for music. Like any other ambitious kid, a childhood passion laid the foundation for me at Next Octave Music today; I want to call it thanksgiving, for the love music, has bestowed upon me since a kid.
As of the present day, I’ve tutored over a thousand students across various schools from Mumbai, namely Bombay Scottish Powai, TGAA Chembur & Mulund, The Cathedral, And John Connon School Churchgate, St. Anthony's School, etc.
I also specialize in the early developer’s music program for young kids.

Over the years, I've met a talented set of professional musicians who shared similar interests, who eventually became friends. Each of them is a full-time musician at the Core of their profession with tremendous coaching experience, locally and internationally. I reached out to them to build upon my idea of an Online Music Platform, and off we went!
With our acquired knowledge & skills-set and over a year’s worth of brainstorming, research, and planning, we created
The Next Octave Family, which now comprises highly trained coaches from Internationally recognized Institutions across India. We strove hard to provide a truly transparent, genuine & economic experience to every student from the comfort of their homes. For tutors, Next Octave Music School also aims to provide potential teaching & career options, which are well paid for. We aim to grow together with our educators. Bearing in mind the new-age classroom methodologies for the future of musical education, the ever-growing demand for online platforms, and the comfort of our clients. FAQ
-
Can I sit in on my child’s music lesson?Yes, we have an open door policy. It is your choice when to sit in. However, please keep in mind that while some students work better with a parent in the room, others may find it distracting. The teacher will give you some advice on this after they get to know your child. Each classroom has a viewing window so parents can see into each room.
-
How much practice should I put in, each week?"We recommend a minimum of 15 minutes per day, six day’s per week. Although this is the absolute minimum recommendation, students will progress faster and remember more if they are able to practice more often. Short practice sessions done several times per day, every day, works out much better than longer practice sessions a few times per week. For young children, the practicing goes much better if the parent supervises.
-
How do we differ from offline lessons?Learning online brings you real world skills which are constanlyupdated from time to time. You get much more choices and control over your subject and its selection. Education with comfort and more time-flexibility account for a better learning environment. Extra time can be saved for more practice. On the other hand teachers can spend more time with students and can offer more personal attention. Online learning also creates an open platform for professional coaching from the the other side of the world, which can be made available to wider sources at discounted prices; & from the comfort of home.
-
Can I interview a teacher before I begin lessons? Our teachers are highly educated, experienced and licensed professional instructors. Each instructor has already been properly screened and has been very carefully chosen for their skills and abilities. Our job is to give you best music education possible, in order to do this our instructors are required to focus solely on teaching. For that reason, it is not in the instructor’s job description, nor in our policies, to be interviewed by prospective students or parents.
-
Are the teachers qualified?Yes. All of our teachers are highly qualified professionals and many have extensive performance experience. Our instructors are university or college degreed in the programs and instruments they teach. Our teachers are experienced teachers and are chosen not only for their qualifications, but for their ability to teach students.
-
How long does it take to learn an instrument? There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn an instrument. This varies from student to student and really depends on the individual, how much practicing you do and your age. Playing is a physical skill so it does take repetition to improve. With regular practice a basic level of playing can be accomplished within a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
